It takes a Community to create the change you want to see

My intention to become a Certified Sexual Health Educator has been a long-standing goal. I am only a binder away from realizing that goal, literally. I have to print, organize and install all the paperwork (lesson plans, feedback forms, marketing tools) that I have created over the last year into a big binder and hand it in. This last year would not have been possible without the help of the Community Foundation of Whister’s Kathy Barnett Leadership Grant and the support from Howe Sound Women’s Centre. This grant allowed me the freedom to confidently learn my way to becoming a competent sexual health educator. The funding that was granted to me was used to teach four Approachable Adult workshops in various locations through the Sea to Sky Corridor and teach 10 hours of sexual health education to a group of students who attend Howe Sound Secondary School. I am grateful to the Community Foundation, to the participants who attended and thoughtfully engaged in the workshops, to Howe Sound Women’s Centre, and to the students and teachers at Howe Sound Secondary School. I am booked for the remainder of the year teaching sexual health education in the Corridor. I will start booking for next year in August 2019. I look forward to this journey!!!
